Neem Oil Spray
Neem oil spray has many uses and the recipe can be very easy to make. The spray is sometimes made by using a small amount of the oil plus a small amount of liquid soap which acts as an emulsifier, and a reasonably large amount of water in relation to the soap and the oil. The emulsifier or liquid soap helps to keep the oil mixed throughout the spray so it does not settle to the top.
There are many different ideas for making a spray from this oil, and quite a number of different recipes. When trying to control pests, it is possibly a good idea to remember that most of the ones like cockroaches and snails have to eat the product so that it will poison them and cause them to die. So a spray is not much good for these particular pests.
The spray works on certain insects by upsetting their hormonal balance, causing them to die before reaching maturity. It can also work as a repellent where it is sprayed, helping to ward of attacks on different plants. It may also work on other types of insects making them starve to death by causing them to not want to eat.
For problems with fungus outbreaks in the garden, a Neem oil spray can be effective against a number of these diseases. It is useful against black spot on tomatoes, spinach, roses and many other plants. If there is an outbreak of powdery mildew in amongst varieties of vine plants such as rockmelons or cucumbers, then this can be very helpful.
There are a number of places which sell the Neem oil for use in making a spray, and these can be found on the websites on the internet, online auctions, or in organic garden mail order catalogues. Or it can be purchased as a ready made spray from most of these places as well.
